Since I receive a lot of questions via email and comments, I have decided to start a blog post series with the most frequently asked questions.

This will be my first FAQ post. I hope you find it helpful!

How often should I exfoliate my skin?

How often should you exfoliate your skin?

To begin with, it isn’t necessary to exfoliate your skin at all. And doing it too much can cause damage to the skin, even long term. Over-exfoliating can remove natural oils in the skin, making it more prone to dehydration and sensitivity. And even mild exfoliation will deteriorate the natural microbiome in the skin.

For these reasons, I have completely stopped doing any external exfoliation on my face.

So to answer the question, I recommend zero times per week. Especially if you have sensitive skin. And no more than one time per week for any skin type. Always choose the mildest possible.

Instead of external exfoliation, I recommend you enhance the natural, and fully sufficient, exfoliation which the skin takes care of itself. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (most people eat way to little) , eat enough protein, get your beauty sleep, and exercise.

To boost cell regeneration even more, I recommend microcurrent.

Is Faceyoga effective for wrinkles?

Yes, doing it correctly and several times per week, it has been shown to strengthen your facial muscles, making your face more plump. Which to some degree will smoothe out some wrinkles. Since it also improves circulation it is good for prevention of new wrinkles.

I personally prefer microcurrent over faceyoga, since it is more effective and much easier to perform. And my favourite device is ZIIP. With that said, I think faceyoga is a good option since it is completely free. Just be aware that it takes a lot of time and commitment.

How often should you use microcurrent at home?

Microcurrent at home should be used several times per week for optimal results. As a very busy mom I try to do 2-3 times per week, using my ZIIP for about 20 minutes per session. And I get superb results! I would love to do it 4-5 times per week, but that will wait until my kids are older.

Depending on what device and program you use, you can use it almost daily. Just make sure to have at least one day off per week, regardless of program and strength.

How do you get rid of blackheads on the nose?

This common problem is best treated with a mix of sulfur, salicylic acid, and zinc oxide. My best tip is to use this non expensive serum. Dip a cotton ball and apply it over the black head area of your nose before going to bed. You will start to see improvement the next morning and you will need to repeat often. This serum can also be used every night for prevention of new black heads.

When it comes to different patches for blackheads, they simply does not work.

Do I need sunscreen if UV index is 0?

If you want to prevent premature wrinkles on your face, the answer is yes. The reason for this is that the UV index mostly measures UVB radiation, and not as much UVA. In winter, there is no UVB radiation at all if you live further away from the equator. But as long as the sun is out, there will always be UVA radiation. And UVA is what causes wrinkles.
The amount of UV radiation is of course much lower in winter, compared to summer. And to protect against cancer, you don’t need sunscreen on a cloudy winter day. But to prevent wrinkles, you do. This post tells you more about sun protection and UV radiation.

I will regularly publish more frequently asked questions about skin care. so keep sending me your questions!

Until next time, love your skin!
